Sunday 1 March 2015

And so, March has arrived!

March is here and it's just a week in work to get through until we pack up the campervan and start our EP tour.

We're kicking off by visiting our Scottish friends, and we'll be playing at the Greenside venue, Fife on Saturday 7th. If you're in the area or have friends up there then make sure they get out to the gig as it's gonna be a big one!

We'll also have some 'The Nankeens' goodies with us including the limited edition vinyl and pale ale. Make sure you keep your eye on the Facebook page and our website to find out where and when you'll be able to catch us over the month.

Speaking of Vinyl...it's arrived! So everyone who has pre-ordered will be receiving their copies over the next week or so. We've had it on the ol' record player, AND.IT.SOUNDS.IMMENSE.

You can get these either direct from us at one of the gigs or order it online at www.thenankeens.co.uk

It's going to be a top month. We're particularly looking forward to playing to the home crowd in Manchester on the 13th.  We've been overwhelmed by the demand for tickets. In fact it's sold out.

Gulliver's is going to be packed out for us and the awesome support we have lined up. But don't worry - the important things have been taken care of. We've made sure they have enough bar staff on ;)

We are still receiving messages asking for tickets. So if you have bought a ticket and now can't make it, please do post it on the Facebook event and someone will have it off you.

We'll be playing some old favourites as well as tracks from the new EP throughout the tour. However we'll also be throwing in another BRAND NEW track we've been playing with in rehearsal lately.

We'll be posting a video of us playing it in rehearsal sometime this week so keep a look out if you want to check it out before the tour.

We're keeping it short and sweet today as we're busy doing final prep for the tour, so adios - hope to see you at the front!

More EP tour news plus discounted Owkay clothing for our fans.

Do you want to a) get more detail on the line-up of the EP launch, b) find out about the other confirmed tour dates and locations or c) bag yourself a 15% discount code for Owkay clothing? For all of the above read on!

Firstly we are made up to be able to add Mr Jimi Wade to the line-up of our EP launch night. This means there will now be five bands / artists playing on the night for the absolute bargain price of £5.

The full line-up is below so you can check them all out before the gig:

Jimi Wade
Lilliput
Tremors
Andy Metcalfe
The Nankeens

The roof is going off and you'd be a fool to miss it. Contact the band for tickets or get them from skiddle. All info for the EP launch is here

Secondly we now have a number of confirmed EP tour dates. March is going to be a busy month and you'll be able to catch us in the following places:

7th March - Greenside Hotel, Fife
8th March - Record Factory, Glasgow
13th March - Gullivers, Manchester
14th March - Indepensent, Sunderland
21st March - Studio 2, Liverpool
26th March - PJ Malloys, Denfermline
27th March - Krafty Brew Brewery, Edinburgh
28th March - Penicuik Miners, Midlothian  (DJ set from Bez)

Keep your eyes and ears open for announcements of further dates as they are confirmed

Andy Metcalfe is also going to be jumping in the campervan and joining us on some of the tour dates so each and every one is definitely worth getting out to and supporting the scene. If you are not familiar with Andy (formerly of Sound of Guns), you need to get on YouTube and Spotify and listen to some of his stuff. Having previously toured with The View and Stereophonics he knows how to get the crowd going and you won't be disappointed.

And we'd be really grateful if you check out our website and pre-order the new EP or any of the other merchandise on there. It really will help with the costs of the tour and will mean that we can actually get back from Scotland when we're done. www.thenankeens.co.uk

Finally, you may have noticed the Owkay clothing that Adam's been sporting over the last 12 months. Well the guys over there have been generous enough to give us a discount code to share with our fans that will give you 15% off your orders! So if you want to bag yourself some clobber then visit the Owkay clothing website here and enter the discount code Nankeens15. And yes ladies - there is stuff for you too!

Here's just some of the tees and hats that are available...

Now don't say we don't do anything for you.

Roll up, roll up! Get your BLISTERS EP and merchandise here!

We know what you're thinking...all quiet on the western front for months and then BAM two blog posts within days of one another. Crazy hey! Well we have some more news about the EP and it's rude not to share ;)

On the last post we were telling you all about the launch of our second EP, Blisters. And now we're happy to say it's available to pre-order on limited edition vinyl and for download. You can do this by logging onto our new website here

Not only will you be able to pre-order the EP (released on 13th March), we have some other goodies including posters, t-shirts, annual gig passes and our very own 'Blisters ale' brewed at Krafty Brew in Edinburgh up for grabs!

All of the items will be ready for dispatch / pick-up on or before 13th March and all money will go to help funding our EP tour. The tour will take us up and down the UK over the month of March (and I'm sure you can imagine how much the fuel alone will cost doing it all in an old P reg camper van!) so every little helps us get out and get our music heard.

The website has also got our first EP, Autonomy and links to all of our social media sites on there so make sure you check it out.

We have a few more dates and venues to confirm before we can release the full tour schedule so make sure you keep your eyes and ears open - but if you are local to Manchester or just fancy a trip there, the details are all up on the new website as well as on Facebook here

Looking forward to seeing you at the front. #Herewego

Sunday 18 January 2015

Sorry for the radio silence - but we're back with exciting news!

Erm...Hello?..Is anyone still there?

Wouldn't be surprised if this is echoing around an empty room considering we haven't posted a blog since April! Eeeeessshhh. Pretty bad form, right?

What having we been doing? We that's just it actually. Since our last big gig at Gorilla (which sold out and was a fantastic night - and really we should do a blog about that but considering it was back in, ahem, May you probably can't be bothered to read about it!) our perfectly mis-matched diaries - you'd think we did it on purpose - saw holidays, festivals, moving houses and all sorts of other commitments that the band had clashing with one another. And so since then we have had a few low-key gigs. But nothing much to shout about. So that's why we dropped off the radar a little...

BUT we are still here. Still rehearsing. Still Jamming. And - we have finally got around to arranging the launch of the long awaited second EP that was recorded in the mega Motor Museum Studio last year.

We are just putting the finer details of the tour together but here's what we can tell you:

The new EP is called BLISTERS. We are launching it on 13th March, with a gig at the popular Manchester music venue, Gullivers.

Tickets for this can be purchased in advanced for £5 here or will be available on the night for £7. Although we wouldn't suggest waiting until the night to get tickets because with special guests Andrew Metcalfe (of Sounds of Guns), Tremors (formerly Skinny Roller) and Lilliput to help make the launch a night to remember, it will definitely be a busy one.

You really need to get out for this or risk missing out on a a special night.

Here's the link to the event page.

The rest of the locations and dates for the EP tour will be announced very soon so keep your eyes open.
